I don’t even know where to begin. As a daughter of a former resident, I adored this place for my Loved One. It is clean, everything is well kept, the care is of the highest quality, the food is great, and it is personal. Victoria asked my retired pastor Dad to step out of retirement to preach again at Abba Care giving him purpose; she encourages residents to continue to use their God-given gifts while they still can. Thank you Victoria, Vilma, Alloy, Tony, John, and the wonderful staff.

As my mom was getting treated for her leukemia, she had to admit she couldn't care for dad any longer. Sad day. We tried CCC for a weekend, and my dad made up stories of G-ma mob bosses. We didn't know who to believe. We were looking for a place for a permanent solution for his care. Dad's dementia was a challenge above any we could handle. We needed lots of help. That's when a friend from church mentioned her dad was almost 100 living at Abba Care. Yes, 100! A lot has to go right at a place to reach a century mark. Curious... We sent the family and extended family to check out the facilities. First thing we noticed? No smells. It actually smelled clean. The next thing we noticed was how intimate the setting was. Complete with a gazebo out back. But above all? Everyone was sooo friendly. Once we moved dad in, Abba Care workers went above and beyond with accommodation for dad. They helped him bathe and lent him some items as we struggled to get them off the list. Even let him use their bed and chair temporarily as we got the opportunity to furnish dad with these pieces of furniture. As dad ran into problems such as walking the premises late at night, we were not only informed, but they made alterations to keep dad safe. And offered suggestions to curb his excessive hunger. Abba helped us look for his missing glasses...hearing aides...at times searching through the trash. Also, Abba made sure he was up for all meals and center activities. They always knew how much dad loved his ice tea and dessert. Dad loved Chicken Foot Dominoes. At one time, I saw him manning 3 Bingo cards at once. Plus, dad loved to sing for them before spiritual activities. That gift gave him an identity on campus. When dad was flushing excess toilet paper down the commode, they held his TP to divvy it out only as he needed it. They also helped us keep him from hanging up dirty clothes by controlling his hamper. Even more convenient, Abba staff got his prescriptions delivered directly to them and switched all his docs to those who visited Abba Care regularly. In addition, Abba has a barber come in monthly who you can pay in advance. So, there's no reason why my dad would need money anytime. In short. Abba Care became a one-stop shop for our dad! Abba was open to visits of dad at any time we needed to see him. It's just a simple sign in/sign out process if we ever needed to take dad on errands or trips. Also, Abba cared for dad. He was seeing a PT too. They were exercising him daily. They even got to where they spoon-fed dad. They were quick to call medical 911s as dad choked a couple times. Important too was the TV. Abba's handyman helped dad program and reprogram his TV. Hitting the wrong remote button can be a disaster for the elderly. Abba makes sure remotes are taken care of in case they press the C-span button! I don't have enough space left to cover all Abba Care and its staff did for my dad. Thanks, everyone. As my brother Marty called it, it wasn't a nursing home. My brother called Abba Care "the lodge". I'd like to add, the lodge that became my dad's second home. Thanks again, Abba Care!

Next steps to sign up for the Assisted Living

  • To move into assisted living, which offers personal care support along with meals, housekeeping, and activities, start by contacting facilities to check services, availability, and pricing. A doctor’s evaluation can help if there are concerns about mobility, memory, or complex care needs, but a referral isn’t usually required. Assisted living is primarily private pay or covered by long-term care insurance, so it’s important to compare based on staffing levels, services offered, and resident reviews. After sending messages and getting prequalified through our site, the next step is to schedule a facility tour.

Next steps to sign up for the Independent Living

  • If you’re looking for independent living for seniors who are still active but want amenities like meals, housekeeping, or social activities, you can contact communities directly without a doctor’s involvement. Independent living is almost always private pay, so compare costs, amenities, location, and lifestyle fit carefully. Our site lets you browse options, message communities, and schedule tours easily to find the best match. The next step after prequalification is to arrange a community tour and discuss lease terms.
