The Dallas Area Agency on Aging provides a vital service for older adults and their caregivers in Dallas County. Their comprehensive program offers a range of support services aimed at easing the emotional, physical, and financial challenges of caregiving. Services include respite care, minor home repairs, chore assistance, transportation vouchers, and durable medical goods. This program is designed to support family caregivers, grandparents raising grandchildren, and older individuals who are relative caregivers. To be eligible for assistance, the care recipient must be 60 years or older or any age if they have Alzheimer's or dementia. Grandparents or older relatives caring for children must be 55 years or older and the primary caregiver due to the inability of biological parents to provide care.

Senior Source’s Caregiver Support Group

Many individuals find themselves in the unfamiliar position of providing care for aging loved ones or addressing their own needs as they age. We offer assistance by phone, in person (by appointment) and through our support groups. Our staff members provide supportive counseling and referrals for services such as in-home care, assistance in moving an elderly parent locally from another state or city, hospice, housing (including independent living, assisted living, and nursing facilities), transportation resources, housekeeping services, legal services, end of life planning, and mental health services. In addition, we conduct seminars and workshops to provide caregivers with vital resources and information. In 2019, the Caregiver Support Program served more than 2,000 caregivers in Greater Dallas through a variety of counseling, referrals, and educational programs.

Auberge at Kingwood Family Support Group

The Auberge at Kingwood Family Support Group meets every month on the first Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Auberge at Kingwood location. Please RSVP by calling 281.312.2526. Being a caregiver comes with a unique set of challenges and stresses, so the Auberge invites you to join the open support groups for loved ones, caregivers and family members. Share experiences in providing care for someone with memory impairment and connect with others who know firsthand the challenges caregivers handle every day.
