What should I know about what a applying for guardianship? I'm not sure where to start but my mom can no longer pay her bill but wont let me take over.

My mom is bedridden with dementia. Should I try to get her up daily?

My mom is always cold and has the heat on when it's 80 outside. Does anyone have these issues?

She will mess with it and say I didn't do it. Puts it on emergency heat.

How do I calm things down when my family member gets aggressive or violent while I'm taking care of them?

Hey everyone, dad's got dementia and lately he's been lashing out - yelling, throwing things, even trying to hit me sometimes when I'm helping him. It's breaking my heart to see him like this. I know it's the disease talking, but it's still scary and exhausting.I've tried talking softly and giving him space, but sometimes nothing seems to help. Any tips would be so appreciated

What changes can I make in the bathroom to make it safer for my husband who has mobility issues?

My husband's mobility has gotten worse lately and I'm worried sick about him falling in the bathroom. We can't afford a full remodel, but I know we need to do something to make it safer for him. Any DIY tips would be great, 'cause hiring someone is probably out of our budget right now.

As a caregiver, are there specific tax forms or documents I need to fill out to make sure I'm compliant and getting all the benefits?

Tax season coming up and I'm realizing I have no clue how being a caregiver affects my taxes. I've been taking care of Mom full-time for the past year and I know there are supposed to be some benefits, but the whole thing is confusing as heck. Are there special forms I need to fill out and how do I prove I'm a caregiver? I don't want to miss out on any deductions or credits, but I also don't want to mess up and get in trouble with the IRS.

Genetic testing and clinical trials

Does anyone else have a strong family history for dementia or other neurologic disorders? I’ve tried to enroll in a “non-affected” clinical trial, but have had no response. Has anyone successfully done this?

If in facility what happens

My mom is on star plus but I’m told if goes to facility Social security takes back money how does she pay for burial insurance? Also the attitude is getting so bad the fussing and she cannot pronounce words anymore is there something to help her?

What to do when there's nobody to help

Our social security is literally $5 too much to receive Medicaid for my husband who has Alzheimer's, and this eliminates him from the possibility of inpatient or outpatient or memory care that is paid for by Medicaid. Medicare only covers doctor's visits and some medications right now. Family lives far away and there doesn't appear to be support outside of support groups and some tiny bit of respite occasionally. Grateful but concerned. Any ideas? Some of the resources feel like putting a Band-Aid on an amputated leg!

How do I tackle common aging issues like mobility problems with my dad? His knees are giving out and now its hard for him to get up from his chair.
