The people who came to my home (a nurse and a PT) were lovely, but I'm taking off stars because I felt a bit hoodwinked by the company in general. I was never asked for a copay the entire time I had therapy (which was several weeks). Then a whole year later I received 2 huge bills. I spoke with them several times to protest the charges but they would not remove the charges. Had they told me I would have had to pay more, I would have chosen someplace more affordable. Then the fact that the bills did not arrive until 1 year later seems very fishy to me. I really hate to give lower stars because the PT was lovely, but I want others to be on the lookout for this.

If you use BrightStar Home Health, save every receipt—you’ll need them. Their billing department is awful and not very responsive and good luck ever catching the billing supervisor in the office. They routinely send out invoices months after insurance pays. They continue to send me invoices that threaten to send me to collections for invoices I paid ages ago even after speaking with them 2 other times about the same invoices and told it would be fixed. The nursing care also declined toward the end. Several nurses were not knowledgeable with the basics of my treatment process. I ended up leaving the company this past June because of these problems, especially the nonstop billing issues. Updated: Issue was resolved but it took me posting the 1 star review to get a response from the supervisor. Plus way too many hours on my part to provide documentation and make a lot of phone calls.

Next steps to sign up for the Home Care (Non-medical)

  • To start home care services like help with bathing, meals, or companionship, you can reach out directly to home care agencies. No doctor’s referral is required. Most home care is paid privately, by long-term care insurance, or through Medicaid waiver programs. It’s important to compare providers based on caregiver training, reliability, and responsiveness; our site helps you compare local options, message providers, and start the prequalification process. The typical next step is a free home assessment to create a personalized care plan.

Next steps to sign up for the Home Health Care

  • To begin home health services like skilled nursing, physical therapy, hospice, or wound care at home, you’ll need a doctor’s referral if you want Medicare, Medicaid, or insurance to cover it. Once you have a referral, you can compare agencies based on quality ratings, nurse availability, and specialties. Our site makes it easy to find local agencies, message them directly, and get prequalified based on your specific health needs and insurance coverage. After that, expect a home health nurse to schedule an initial evaluation visit.
