Can I get paid for taking care of my veteran dad? What do I gotta do to apply for those benefits?

So, I've been taking care of my dad (he's a Vietnam vet) pretty much full-time for the past year. It's been tough financially since I had to cut back my work hours. Someone mentioned there might be a way to get paid for being his caregiver through the VA, but I have no clue how to even start with that. Any info would be a huge help - we could really use the extra income.

I totally get where you're coming from. Taking care of a vet parent is tough, especially when money's tight. The VA does have this program called Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers that might help you out. Fair warning though, it can be a bit of a process. They'll want to know all about your dad's needs and how much care you're providing. But don't let that scare you off - if you qualify, it can be a real lifesaver. Might be worth giving your local VA office a call too, they can sometimes help you navigate all the paperwork.
