Where can I find a little extra help at home from a paid care worker for my spouse?

My husband's Parkinson's is getting worse and I just can't do it all myself anymore. I work full-time and we don't have any family nearby to help out. I'm thinking we might need to hire someone to come in for a few hours a day, but I have no clue where to even start looking. Any recommendations on finding trustworthy help? We're on a pretty tight budget too.

Here's what I learned after 8 months of trial and error with my mom: Home care agencies are $$$ but they handle everything - we use Home Instead when I can afford it. Private caregivers are cheaper but more work to manage. Had good luck finding someone through a post at the hospital where mom gets treatment. Also check if his insurance covers any home health - took me forever to realize Medicare would pay for an aide 2x week for 'skilled care' after I threw my back out trying to lift him. Not a permanent solution but helped during the rough patch. Biggest tip: investigate EVERYTHING. I was shocked how many programs are out there that nobody tells you about. Even our power company has a medical hardship program that lowered our bill. You really have to dig and ask everyone you meet. Hugs to you. its so hard doing this alone

We use visiting angels. Not the cheapest but they're reliable. Also found out our church has a respite care program where volunteers come sit with my dad for a few hours. maybe check if any religious organizations near u do something similar? Every little bit helps when money's tight
