With caregiving being so demanding, how do you all manage to squeeze in some self-care time?

Recently feeling totally burnt out lately to be honest. Between work, taking care of Mom, and trying to keep up with housework, I can't remember the last time I had 2 mins for myself. I know it's important to have me time, but I feel guilty even thinking about it. Any tips?

I had to find a caregiver agency to send someone out for a few hours. Not sure what state you’re in but we have a Medicaid plan that offers a grant for that service. You don’t have to qualify for Medicaid either. On my days off I go away from the house so no questions or concerns are asked. I’m lucky to have a spouse that is self employed so he makes sure we have something to do. And if I stay home he doesn’t allow anyone to bother me.

What's worked for me is sneaking in little bits of me-time whenever I can. Like, I'll take an extra long shower or listen to my favorite podcast while I'm doing chores. Sometimes I'll ask a friend or family member to sit with mom for an hour so I can go for a walk or grab a coffee. And I know it's hard, but try not to feel guilty about it - you gotta take care of yourself to take care of others. Even if it's just 10 minutes a day, find something that makes you feel good and stick to it.
