Guardianship

What should I know about what a applying for guardianship? I'm not sure where to start but my mom can no longer pay her bill but wont let me take over.

How do you know if guardianship is the right move? Are there other options out there?

I've heard about guardianship, but it sounds so drastic. Are there any other options we should consider first for my mm? I don't want to take away her independence, but I'm really worried about her safety.
