Are there any legal protections for family caregivers like me who need to take time off work? What should I know?

My boss has been pretty understanding so far about me needing to take my Mom to appointments, but I'm worried about using up all my sick days. I heard there might be some laws to protect caregivers at work, but I don't know the details. Anyone know what my rights are?

I've been in your shoes and it's tough juggling work and caregiving. So, there's this thing called the Family and Medical Leave Act that might help you out. It lets you take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave without losing your job. Some states have their own laws that might give you more protection too. It's worth checking with your HR department to see what your options are. Hang in there, you're doing great.
